Random Matrix Theory and Wireless Communications
نویسندگان
چکیده
Random matrix theory has found many applications in physics, statistics and engineering since its inception. Although early developments were motivated by practical experimental problems, random matrices are now used in fields as diverse as Riemann hypothesis, stochastic differential equations, condensed matter physics, statistical physics, chaotic systems, numerical linear algebra, neural networks, multivariate statistics, information theory, signal processing and small-world networks. This article provides a tutorial on random matrices which provides an overview of the theory and brings together in one source the most significant results recently obtained. Furthermore, the application of random matrix theory to the fundamental limits of wireless communication channels is described in depth. 1 Dept. Mitigating Node Capture Attack in Random Key Distribution Schemes through Key Deletion
Random Key Distribution (RKD) schemes have been widely accepted to enable low-cost secure communications in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). However, efficiency of secure link establishment comes with the risk of compromised communications between benign nodes by adversaries who physically capture sensor nodes. The challenge is to enhance resilience of WSN against node capture, while maintainin...
متن کاملRandom Vandermonde Matrices-Part II: Applications
In this paper, we review some potential applications of random Vandermonde matrices in the field of signal processing and wireless communications. Using asymptotic results based on the theory of random Vandermonde matrices, we show through several application examples, namely deconvolution, wireless capacity analysis and sampling theory, the research potential of this theory. Quite surprisingly...
متن کاملRandom matrix theory in wireless communications
Introduction. A random matrix in a linear system model [1]. Basic examples (involving a single random matrix): CDMA [2], Single-User MIMO [3], compressive sensing [4, 5]. More involved examples (involving sum and products of random matrices): multi-cell communication [6], correlated systems [7], Multiple Access Channels, relay channels [8]. Short discussion on modeling of wireless networks with...
متن کاملFading Statistics in Communications — a Random Matrix Approach
Fading is the time-dependent variations in signal strength measured at a receiver, due to temporally evolving multipath scattering and interference. In our previous work we introduced a statistical fading model for the time-reversal invariant case by combining the predictions of random matrix theory with the random coupling model that includes system-specific properties such as the radiation im...
متن کاملRandom Matrix Methods for Design of Multiuser Communication Systems∗
A short review on multiuser communication systems is given. System design for iterative multiuser decoding is improved by means of large system results from statistical physics and random matrix theory. With the application of multiuser detection for wireless communications in mind, it is shown how a system of linear equations with random coefficients can be solved efficiently exploiting the as...
